RULES
Fishing outwith the boundaries of the association’s waters is not authorised by this permit. Permit holders so doing risk prosecution and/or a ban on their fishing anywhere in the Tweed river system.
Before fishing please ensure that your tackle and waders have been thoroughly sterilised if you have previously used them in a country affected by the parasite Gyro-dactylus salaris.
THE USE OF ASSOCIATION WATERS FOR MONETARY OR MATERIAL GAIN INCLUDING INFLUENCING, GUIDING AND THE USE OF MEDIA OUTLETS SHALL BE ONLY BY WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THE COMMITTEE.

ANGLING SEASONS
BROWN TROUT & GRAYLING – 1st April to 30th September 2026.
GRAYLING – 1st December 2026 to 31st January 2027.
Fishing for Salmon or Sea Trout with this permit is strictly forbidden.
Anglers detecting signs of pollution please contact the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency on 0800 807060.
Permit holders using the waters controlled by KAA do so at their own risk.
KAA recommends permit holders wear a life jacket, eye protection and use a wading stick.
WATERS
TWEED – SOUTH SIDE – From Junction Pool to Kelso Bridge, and from Crown Point to the top of the Broase Stream. NORTH SIDE – From Kelso Cauld to the top of the Broase Stream with the exception of the water at the property known as Westwood Cottage near Hendersyde Lodge.
TEVIOT – NORTH SIDE – Ormiston March to Teviot Bridge. SOUTH SIDE – Howden Burn to the Junction.
EDEN – Both banks from Bridge on road from Kelso to Birgham to Junction with River Tweed.
BYE-LAWS
1. River Tweed Water Bailiffs may seize the permit of any holder suspected of breaching any of the provisions contained in The Scotland Act 1998 (River Tweed) Order 2006 or The Rivers Tweed & Eye Protection Order 1980, or any rule or regulation listed within this permit.

2. Permits (and, if demanded, fish, bait and tackle) to be exhibited when required to any warden, or to a proprietor, or to the Police or River Tweed Bailiffs.
3. ALL FISHING WILL BE WITH FLY ONLY.
4. The association encourages a policy of total catch and unharmed release of trout caught on water under its control.
5. Taking of smolts and parr prohibited.
6. NO FISHING ON SUNDAYS.
7. Spinning is prohibited.
8. No fishing on Hendersyde water areas marked yellow on the map until 1st June.
No fishing in the areas marked yellow on the map until 10am.
9. The sale of trout indirectly or directly is banned. Any infringement of this rule will mean immediate loss of permit.
10. All gates must be closed as required, and injury to fences and disturbance of stock and game must be avoided. No fires to be lit. All litter must be taken home.
11. Salmon anglers must be accorded precedence at all times. (please refer to the new Tweed code of conduct).
11a. No wading above hip level.
12. The Association, through its Committee, shall have the power to refuse membership to, or cancel the membership of, any person whose fishing on the Association’s waters or elsewhere has given rise to a conviction following on legal proceedings against him or to a complaint in writing by a Riparian owner.
13. Anglers are not permitted to take dogs with them while fishing on waters leased by the Association on the Rivers Tweed and Teviot.
14. Please note anglers are now not permitted to fish between the hours of 11.00pm and 4.00am.
